How long does this flask actually keep food hot?
It keeps food hot for 6 to 9 hours, and cold for 16 to 24 hours. That covers a full working day or a school day, so food packed at 7am is still hot at lunchtime. Heat retention depends on filling it properly — see the pre-warming answer below.
How do I get the longest heat retention from it?
Pre-warm the flask before you fill it: pour in boiling water, screw the lid on, leave it for five minutes, then tip it out and add your hot food straight away. A cold steel interior absorbs heat from your meal, so skipping this step is the most common reason a flask underperforms. Filling it to the top also holds heat better than filling it half way.
Can I put it in the microwave?
No — it is 304 stainless steel, and metal must never go in a microwave. It does not need one: food goes in hot and stays hot for 6 to 9 hours, so you get a proper hot meal anywhere there is no microwave at all, which is the point of a vacuum flask.
Will it leak soup in a bag?
No — the screw-on lid seals against the rim, so soups, stews and curries travel upright or on their side without drips. Screw the lid down fully until it stops, and avoid overfilling past the neck, as food sitting in the thread is what breaks a seal.
Is it dishwasher safe?
We recommend hand washing with a soft sponge and warm soapy water. Dishwasher heat and harsh detergent can degrade the vacuum seal over time, which is what gives the flask its heat retention, so hand washing is what keeps it performing for years.
Does the white finish stain or mark easily?
The exterior is a coated stainless steel finish, so tea, coffee and tomato splashes wipe off with a damp cloth rather than soaking in. Wipe spills before they dry, and avoid abrasive scourers on the outside, which are what dull a coated finish over time.
What comes with it, and how big is it?
You get the 730ml (24.7oz) flask in white, a foldable spoon that stores in the lid, and a carry bag. How do I get curry or garlic smells out of it?
Fill it with warm water and a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, leave it overnight, then rinse well. Leave the lid off when storing it between uses, as a sealed damp flask is what traps smells in the first place. Strong dishes like curry may need this twice.
What does the 2-year warranty cover, and how do I claim?
The warranty covers manufacturing defects for two years on every Good For You product, wherever you bought it. It does not cover dents from drops or damage from misuse. To claim, email us with your order number and a photo of the flask, and we will arrange a replacement.
